Arrow Breaking

Arrow Breaking

Breaking an Arrow on the throat is a modern symbolic exercise, widely used in personal development and leadership training.

The activity requires the participant to place the metal point of a wooden archery arrow in the clavicular notch of the throat. The arrow nock is put into a divot of a sturdy piece of board, held rigidly at arm’s length by an instructor. Once the participant composes themselves and does not doubt, in their mind that they can break the arrow, they begin. Leaning forward, maybe taking a step towards the person holding the board, until the arrow bends and ultimately breaks.

Many participants find Arrow Breaking daunting. Trapped by their self-limiting belief and the uncomfortable pressure exerted on the soft notch in their throat, the doubt takes over. However, once they step outside of their doubt and find comfort in the discomfort, and believe they will not be injured, they succeed. This gives them a real sense of achievement and awareness that they can apply similarly to their personal and business lives.

Many take their broken arrows home and keep them as a memento of what they can achieve when they believe in themselves.

Arrow Breaking can be booked as a standalone activity or alongside any of our other activities.
